This is a compute autopilot computer for pypilot.   There are many improvements from the previous version (sold in 2021 and before)

• raspberry pi zero W (wifi enabled)
• icm20948 (proven reliable and effective)
• IR sensor + remote for remote control. Can configure most IR remotes from browser.
• 433mhz RF receiver. Supported wireless remote control included! Many 433mhz remote controls supported.
• 7 button RF transmitter keypad fully waterproof included.   This has many improvements over cheaper 433mhz remotes
• jlx12864 (daylight visible) display
• microsd card pre-loaded with tinypilot image
• enclosure 85x58x33mm (3.35"x2.28"x1.23")
• waterproof glands for power, motor controller and optional usb input for GPS, wind or other sensors.

tinypilot is my own custom linux distribution designed specifically for pypilot. This distribution is based off of tinycore linux, and runs completely out of ram after booting offering superior stability.

I measured current draw of 0.07 A at 12 volts with wifi enabled on pi zero W.

An access point "pypilot" is automatically created. It can be configured from a browser and opencpn pypilot plugin.

pypilot is compatible with opencpn (I am a major contributor to OpenCPN)   pypilot also supports SignalK.

Modes:

• Compass mode - maintain compass bearing
• GPS - maintain course over ground if connected over (usb, or network)
• NAV - follow a course from chart (recommend autopilot_route_pi plugin for OpenCPN)
• wind (both true and apparent) if wind sensors are provided (usb or network)

A fully functioning autopilot requires 3 parts:

• autopilot computer (this product)
• motor controller (several designs available on this site)
• rudder drive motor  (any reversible dc brushed motor which can move the rudder in both directions by changing polarity)
