pypilot supports almost any type of existing linear actuator.
A simple test would be to apply power to the wires in both polarities and ensure it moves both ways.
- linear actuators
If attaching to a tiller pilot pin, you will need a thrust piece. One method is to cut a short aluminum pipe to have a slot and put a delrin round rod in it. This can be hose-clamped to the end of the linear actuator. A small hole can be drilled into the side of the delrin to snap onto the tillerpilot pin. These can also be 3d printed sample 1 sample 2
- Wheel drives
Wheel drives can typically be driven using belt and pulleys. Some examples with pictures and video:

- Hydraulic systems
Any type of marine hydraulic steering system can be made to work with pypilot. Typical systems include a reversing hydraulic pump controlled by the autopilot.
